About

Seth Garland is a contemporary British artist whose figurative painting and sculpture fuses technical ingenuity with themes that evade simple explanation. His work is imbued with an apparent familiarity yet upon closer scrutiny these initial preconceptions leave the viewer confounded. A common theme to all his work are altered states, either transparent paintings which become opaque, destroyed paintings abstractly re-appropriated, mirror paintings both reflective and transparent or disarranged anatomies. These intentional and sometimes humorous contradictions seem to parallel the modern world with an insightful foreboding.
